Addiction Psychiatry has moved on over the years in terms of our understanding of Addictions as a valid Brain Disorder. Newer treatments are available and there is a growing evidence of Antagonist treatments for Opioid Dependence. The same Opioid antagonist- Naltrexone is being used in different formulations in Opioid Dependence and Alcohol Dependence. This workshop done for British Indian Psychiatric Association– Annual Conference 2011 in Birmingham highlights the evolution of Addictions and covers the areas of Antagonist Treatment options.
